My favorite Costa Rica fishing vacation lodge is Crocodile Bay. Located on the Osa Peninsula in southern Costa Rica, Crocodile Bay is in the largest remaining tropical lowland rain forest in Costa Rica. National Geographic has termed it the most biologically diverse place on earth. Crocodile Bay offers fantastic inshore and offshore fishing as well as over 30 eco tours and adventures.

This Pacific coast sports fishing area is outstanding as run times require only an hour to the offshore fishing and there are many amenities for the non-anglers in your party. Belize fishing vacations are all about fly fishing. Belize is one of the most incredible places I have visited. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (also known as the Great Maya Reef) is the second largest coral reef system in the world. The open ocean, seagrass, and mangrove ecosystems with the reefs provide habitat for hundreds of fish species and a great variety of fishing.

Another Belize location special for our family is Hamanasi. Our daughter and son-in-law spent their honeymoon at the resort. There are jungle, waterfall, rain forest and marine adventures. The resort has a wonderful Caribbean beach and is in a lush rain forest near ancient Mayan ruins. Guided inshore fishing can be part of the adventure.

Southeast Alaska and Prince of Wales Island is a beautiful place to fish. Fly fishing is the draw on Prince of Wales Island and Alaska’s Boardwalk Lodge in Thorne Bay is the place to stay. The Boardwalk has been voted three times the Alaska Lodge of the Year. There are hundreds of miles of rivers and streams accessible by road for fly fishing. Unlike other lodges where you must fly out each day to fish, you very rarely lose a fly fishing day because of weather at the Boardwalk.
Although not part of Alaska, British Columbia fishing offers great salmon and halibut fishing in very remote areas. Many of the lodges are floating in bays and accessed by helicopter from regional airports that have service from Vancouver. Haida Gwaii (formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands) are about 95 miles south of Ketchikan, Alaska and one of the first major land masses migrating salmon encounter. The Pacific coast of British Columbia offers easy access from the US through Vancouver and excellent fishing. British Columbia fishing packages offer a variety of guiding options and many of our clients like going there to fish on their own. Dawn to dusk fishing is also an option at many locations.
