British Columbia Fishing Packages

Why We Love It

Novice to experienced anglers have asked us, “Is there a world-class lodge where I can go to fish on my own?”  Many of our clients have fished for years and just need some direction to the best spots.   Others have fished with guides but want a more hands-on experience.  British Columbia offers luxury lodges in remote areas in very productive salmon and halibut waters.  These trips are complicated with many guided and unguided options, boat upgrade options, and varying levels of accommodations.   Canadian taxes and service charges may not be included in stated prices which are usually in Canadian dollars.  We have sent groups both to mainland BC and Haida Gwaii and can help you find the best fishing vacation at the right price.

Package Details

Most locations offer three, four or five night trips with set schedules.  Flight schedules and turn-arounds may affect the set dates.   Lodges offer unguided, instructed, and fully guided trips.   The following pricing (Canadian dollars) for one of our lodges is based on double occupancy and level of guiding as noted.

Instructed (5 hours each day):

  • 3 nights, 4 days fishing for $4,795
  • 4 nights, 5 days fishing for $5,295

Fully Guided:

  • 3 nights, 4 days fishing for $5,095
  • 4 nights, 5 days fishing for $5,695

Each lodge has different pricing and all lodges’ pricing includes round trip air transportation from Vancouver, BC to the lodge.

Daily Schedule

Below is a sample four night, five-day fishing package.  We will customize your package and can add activities before and after your stay at the Lodge.

Day One

You start your trip by flying from home to Vancouver, BC.  Our article “Flying in Alaska is a Way of Life” describes details of planning your air travel and we are always available to help.

Day Two

After spending the night in Vancouver, your adventure begins with an early morning flight to a British Columbia regional airport and then a short, picturesque helicopter flight to your lodge.  Your boat and gear will be ready when you arrive for your first day of fishing.  You will arrive in the late morning and your guide will provide an orientation and spend approximately five hours of instruction on the water.  If you are fully guided, the guide will be available up to ten hours each day as part of your package.

You can fish from dawn until dusk at most British Columbia lodges.  The schedule is really set by you.

Days Three through Five

You fish the next three days on your own schedule.  You can fish on your own or be fully guided or a combination if you like.  Take lunch with you on the boat or come in for lunch and a break.  You will begin fishing early each morning after a great breakfast. You will make your lunch and head out for a day of fishing.

Last Day

Lodges differ on fishing the last day, checking out, and preparing for your trip home.  All of your fish is professionally processed, flash frozen and packaged in airline approved boxes to be checked as baggage. You are helicoptered back to the regional airport for your return trip to Vancouver and connecting flights home.

Fish Species

Haida Gwaii fishing is excellent because of the island’s unique location.

  • Formerly the Queen Charlotte Islands, the islands are one of the first major land masses migrating salmon encounter on their way to the Great Northwest’s Inside Passage.
  • Peak time for king salmon is early May to mid-August.
  • Silver salmon migrate through the islands from early July to the end of September.
  • Haida Gwaii fishing also includes ling cod, yellow eye, and other rock fish June through September.
  • From October to March peaking in December and January, catch and release steelhead fishing is in season.

British Columbia main land lodges have similar seasons   Each summer, millions of salmon migrate south along the coast of British Columbia.  Canadian fishing lodges also offer a range of fishing options from fully guided fishing or you can choose to fish entirely on your own.  This option allows dusk to dawn fishing for the serious anglers.

Accommodations

Most of our lodges in British Columbia are floating lodges which are position in remote bays and inlets.  Guest rooms feature ocean and wilderness views with king or split-king beds, deep tubs, and en-suite bathrooms.  Packages include round-trip airfare from Vancouver, double occupancy rooms with private bathrooms and showers, all meals with complimentary beer and wine at dinner, all fishing gear including boats, tackle, bait and waterproof outerwear and boots, and professional fish processing for taking your catch home.

Other Activities

Ocean and forest views are amazing and you typically fly to the lodge from a regional airport by helicopter.  You will see wildlife in the water and on shore.  These floating lodges in remote areas are really all about the fishing and nature in that area.

Contact Us

I would love to talk with you about anywhere you would like to go.  British Columbia has some of the nicest lodges in North America.  Much of the BC coastline is very remote and Haida Gwaii is one of the main land masses migrating salmon come to when swimming in from the ocean to spawn.  The access is very easy from Vancouver for all of the lodges.  I have groups that go back every year because they can fish on their own.  Give me a call at 855-711-7773 or complete the contact form below and I will work with you to customize your dream luxury fishing vacation.   Thanks for reading and I hope to see you on the water soon.
