Catching bonefish and tarpon are also quite the draw. Our luxury lodge lies in the lush rain forest hills of southern Belize on the Caribbean coast in the heart of ancient Maya lands. There are plenty of activities for the non-angler to enjoy while you fish. Package Details
- Choose from a variety of fly fishing, adventure, eco tour and culinary packages. Fly fishing packages are priced by season, number of fishing days and room accommodations. Fishing trips are based on double occupancy and two people per boat and a deluxe king suite:4 nights/3 days fishing in high season
- 5 nights/4 days fishing
- 6 nights/5 days fishing
- 7 nights/6 days fishing
Packaging will include round trip airfare from Belize City to Punta Gorda, nightly accommodations, all meals, and guided fishing each day. Guests are encouraged to bring their own fishing equipment however the lodge does have gear available if necessary.
Daily Schedule
Day One
Your trip starts with getting to Belize City. Major airlines fly directly to Belize City from the US. Our flight from Orlando is about 3 hours. The flight to Punta Gorda is approximately one hour and there are five flights daily so connections are not a problem.
Days Two Through Five
Fishing days begin around 7:00 am each day and end from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm depending upon conditions. Guides are happy to accommodate your schedule as well. Lunch and drinks are provided on the boat.
You can also fish on some days and experience other activities on other days if you like. Pricing is adjusted for the number of fishing days and the other activities. We will design a custom package for you and can also design custom packages for non anglers. From your arrival into Belize City, we handle your reservation for the one hour Tropic Air flight to Punta Gorda, where the lodge is located. There are 5 flights daily so a same day transfer is not a problem. You are welcome to fish everyday while at the lodge or just a couple. Typically our fishing day begins at 7 am and goes until 3-6pm depending on the conditions. But rest assured this is your trip and if you would like to depart early or later, or return to the lodge at any point, our guides are happy to accommodate. We do have a number of very special inland tours and reef adventures that many of our guests mix with a fishing trip. We are also happy to fish every day!
Day Six
Your last day of activities will be planned so your arrive back in Belize City for your trip home.
Fish Species
Belize is world renowned for its fly fishing for permit, bonefish and tarpon. The coastal flats especially off Punta Gorda in Southern Belize are known for permit fish. Southern Belize is undeveloped and remote with very few people so you will not have any fishing pressure. January through May the “dry” season and the best time for fly fishing. Permit fishing is excellent March through May and there is good bonefish angling year around. Most anglers come here for world-class permit fishing.
Accommodations
Choose from one of 16 private suites with three different floor plans and also a three-bedroom family villa. Rooms are air conditioned and include private baths and entrances, laundry services, robes, complimentary Wi Fi, in room safes, hair dryer, and your private veranda for relaxation. A testament to Belize’s natural beauty and craftsmanship, nearly every detail, from the woodwork to the tiles to the artwork, is sourced from local artisans.
The detail shows even in the restaurant. Belizean cuisine is featured and is culturally complex like the Belizeans themselves, with influences from the Maya, East Indian, Creole, Mexican and Garifuna cultures. The lodge offers a real experience of Belize flavors to guests. The sustainable farm is the heart of the location and provides more than 70% of the food served at the Lodge. You can explore the farm to see all of the day to day food production and take other culinary tours as well.
